Each May, Lopez Union Cemetery Association, in partnership with Lopez Island Historical Society, hosts a community potluck and provides opportunity to gather with families and friends to share the history and stories of loved ones buried in the Lopez Union Cemetery. Learn about some of the veterans, settlers, and Indigenous peoples who helped provide the foundation for the Lopez community.

With space in the cemetery in high demand, managers plan to use a high-tech solution to survey underground and determine which plots are occupied — one of several innovations in the business of final farewells.
